Happy Homeschooling

Hey, this is Val.

This is my intro: I am a wife and mother of four. My kids are Joey (age 9, grade 3), Katie (age 7, grade 2), Becky (age 5, grade K), and Sammy (age 4, one foot in school, the other in play time). I've been homeschooling for 4 years. There were many factors influencing this decision. One thing was that we just didn't want to send our kids to public school. We had heard enough stories to put us off.

Anyway. This week has been a doozy. First one kid got sick on Sunday, and stayed sick for 3 days. Then we got a day off before the next one got sick. In between sick kids, the others have been doing school. Then there's one kid who won't do his chores no matter what I do or threaten. Finally, my husband, Tim came up with a plan: set hourly goals with rewards--good and bad. It worked! Yesterday he finished around 3:00, and today he got all his work done by 2:00. I think that's almost a record.

So, we'll just wait and see what happens tomorrow.

Any Suggestion's?

I see we have a few more moms who have responded to their emails. Welcome, and share away!
For myself, I can feel it already that this week will be a struggle for me. I dragged my butt around the house all day today and I'm praying that I can shake this off. I don't think coffee will save me this time. Do you have any suggestion's for me?

Candy (yes thats my name)

Good Morning,
I had a great night sleep and it's time to get this day on a roll. If you take a look at the time I posted this you'll see that it's around 10 am. I only woke up at 9:30. Ooops! I must have needed those extra hours of sleep.
Jadden's well on his way with school work already so I wont worry too much.
So just a little about myself...
I have one son, Jadden. He's not hand full, easy going, and most often willing to finish a days worth of school work. I would say the biggest challenge for us in our home would be making sure Jadden is keeping up with his friendships. He can get pretty lonely at home so it's what I work on for weekends.
During the winter months I spend a great deal of time on knitting. I love to write, study the Word, and boar my poor husband with all the things I've learnt.
My goals for this year is to complete the full school year by mid-June, build on the friends and people God has put into my life, and keep myself and my family on the path God has set before us. My families faith is the one important goal I live for daily.

Yikes!

Okay, this is very new for me, I'm kind of an old fashion kinda girl. In all honesty, I am completely allergic to computers......hives, rash, blurry vision , you name it. But I'll give this a whirl, maybe I've "grown out of it".
My name is Jacqueline, I am a home school mom.....and LOVE IT. We have 2 kids who also love being home schooled.
It is my prayer that through this blog we can get to know each other, give advice, encourage one another, cry and yes.......Laugh, my favorite!
But above all pray for one another. God is good and it is only through Him that we can do anything. So if you are lacking energy, joy, peace or whatever, go to Him.....He has it!
